1. What made you decide to become a volunteer? And why specifically at Project Hills?

I was looking for meaningful ways to spend my time and chanced upon Project Hills on IG. From filling up forms for which I never got replies to being bounced around by different people, I had a hard time finding a place to volunteer at and was really excited when Project Hills replied almost immediately after I DM-ed them!

2. What were your expectations before joining Project Hills, in terms of your duties and responsibilities? Has the actual experience differed from these expectations, and how so?

I knew PH was helping rental estate residents but wasn't sure what they did exactly or how I could help. From the house makeovers to outreach sessions, it's always been much more fulfilling than it is tiring, and I've learned so much from residents and fellow volunteers.

3. How difficult has it been to incorporate volunteering into your lives, on top of your other commitments (school/work/etc.)?

PH has been really flexible and accommodating, never too pushy with how often you can come down or how long you can stay. That has really helped with incorporating volunteering into my routine. We'll always find time for what matters and the perspective which volunteering offers, reminding us what's important beyond work or studies, is worth making time for.
